‘Elite’ commandos: Cop accidentally shoots self, colleague

Panic ensued in Sector G-6 after two Punjab Elite Force officials were injured on Tuesday and the police started a search operation to find the culprits.
However, it was soon learnt that the service pistol of one of the injured cops ‘accidentally’ went off and the bullet injured both men, a police source said.
He said that Punjab Elite Force official Kaleemullah was on his duty near Melody Chowk when his pistol accidentally went off. The bullet grazed his hand and pierced the abdomen of another Elite Force official, Waqar Aslam.
The police shifted the wounded cops to Polyclinic. Aslam’s kidney and bladder were damaged by the bullet.
There was increased security presence in the area immediately after the incident, but the additional cops dispersed once it was established that the incident was accidental.
Kaleemullah hails from Khanewal and Waqar Aslam from Gujrat.
