MUZAFFARABAD:

The police have arrested the prime accused, who allegedly kidnapped and later gang-raped a 10-year-old girl in the dense forests of Neelum Valley, AJK, for two days.

According to the police, the family of the girl, N*, approached Lawat Police Station and lodged an FIR against one of their neighbours, Muhammad Aslam, for allegedly abducting their daughter and raping her together with his friends.

The report said Aslam’s sister had called N* to her house, from where Aslam and his friends Hamaza, Yousaf, Shahreen, Hameed  and Tariq took her to the forests.

The police said the alleged rapist Aslam later approached the girl’s family and said he was ready to hand over the daughter to them if they promised not to report the incident to the police.

However, the girl’s family – after getting her back – went to Lawat Police Satation and registered an FIR against the alleged rapist and his friends.

The police raided the area and arrested the alleged rapist Aslam and his friend Hamza. Asalm, later, confessed to the crime while the other accused are still at large and have succeeded to get pre-arrest bails.

An initial medical report has established the rape attempt, the police said.

The victim’s father has appealed to AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, IGP Malik Khuda Bukh Awan and Chief Justice of AJK Supreme Court Muhammad Azam for justice.
