Jilted: Man awarded life imprisonment

LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering a friend of his girlfriend’s. He also imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on Umar Khursheed. Prosecution said Khursheed and an accomplice Nashid gunned down Sheharyar, a man his girl friend was seeing, at Model Town Park in 2009. The judge however acquitted Nashid due to lack of direct evidence.
