PML-N MPA Rana Jameel Hasan kidnapped in Punjab

He was kidnapped from near Pindi Bhattian, sources say kidnappers have demanded Rs50m from his wife.

NANKANA SAHIB:
Unidentified men kidnapped Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Rana Jameel Hasan from near Pindi Bhattian in Punjab, Express News reported on Saturday.

The MPA had gone there to attend a funeral and he was kidnapped along with his wife, who was later dropped off at a petrol pump, at gunpoint. The kidnapping took place on Friday around 10:30pm.

According to sources, the kidnappers have demanded Rs50 million from the MPA's wife.


Hasan was the PML-N candidate, from PP-174, Nankana who won his seat during the May 11 general elections last year.

He had received 27,390 votes beating independent candidate Agha Ali Haider who polled 19,099 votes.

Locals of the area are protesting against the kidnapping and have set tyres on fire. The police are looking for the kidnappers and further investigations are underway.
