A helping hand: Children of slain contract police officials to be recruited
Children who have passed their matric exams will be recruited as constables.

IGP Nasir Khan Durrani has directed the recruitment of children of special police officers and ex-servicemen who are killed in the line of duty in the police force.
In a meeting of the police policy board, it was decided that the next of kin of the slain officials, working on contract basis, would be recruited as constables or class four employees. The order was issued by the IGP to honour sacrifices rendered by policemen.
Almost a thousand regular policemen and around 80 ex-servicemen and special police officers, also known as community police, across the province have lost their lives in various militant attacks in the war against militancy.
The government provides a compensation of Rs3.5 million, a plot of land and complete salary till retirement to families of regular policemen who lose their lives on the job, while their sons are also recruited as ASIs.
Meanwhile, the families of the special police officers and former army officials working on contract killed in the line of duty are given Rs0.5 million, while a compensation of Rs100,000 is given to those injured. It has thus been decided to recruit the children of those killed to provide additional support for their families.

Similarly, the board decided that in the 10% fixed recruitment quota for executive employees of police, children of both retired and in-service ministerial staffers will also be included.
