Graft: Revenue official, constable arrested for taking bribes
The team, led by judicial magistrate Ahmad Ranjha, recovered the marked notes worth Rs2,000 from the constable.
RAWALPINDI:
The Anti-Corruption Department (ACE) Rawalpindi on Tuesday arrested two government officials for taking bribes and registered cases against them.
Malik Rabnawaz, a resident of Kallar Sayedan, lodged a complaint that a revenue officer in Dhok Sabri was demanding a Rs10,000 bribe for issuing property documents.
The department gave him marked notes and told him to ‘accept’ the revenue officer’s demands. An ACE team raided his office and arrested him red-handed. A case was registered against him by suspending him from his post.
A team also arrested an Excise and Taxation Department constable for his alleged involvement in bribery. A team raided the department on the complaint of Muhammad Zubair, a resident of Kot Hathyal, Bhara Kahu.
The team, led by judicial magistrate Ahmad Ranjha, recovered the marked notes worth Rs2,000 from the constable. A case was registered against the constable and he was placed on suspension.
ACE did not reveal the names of the suspended officials.
