Self-harm: Four commit suicide in separate incidents

Three hospitalised in critical condition after trying to kill themselves.

Four people, including two women, committed suicide in separate incidents on Monday and Tuesday. Police said an intermediate student from village 37-GB, Satiana, consumed poison after an altercation with his parents over what they said was a trifling matter.


He was taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital where he passed away. A woman from village 23-RB, in the Mansoorabad police precincts, consumed poison after some of the family elders “reprimanded her”.

She was taken to the divisional headquarters hospital where doctors provided her medical treatment but could not save her life.


An 18-year-old boy from Raja Bagh, Chiniot, consumed poison allegedly over some domestic issues. He was taken to Allied Hospital where he passed away.

A woman from Kahawar Kalan, in Bhakkar district, reportedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan on Tuesday. Police initially took the body into custody and sent it to the tehsil headquarters hospital for autopsy.

However, the police handed over the body to the family after they said that they did not want a post mortem examination. She was a mother of five.

Two people, a resident of Mureedwala and another of Natho village, also tried to kill themselves.

They were taken to hospital where doctors were providing them treatment. A resident of Bambanwala, Daska, consumed poison on Tuesday allegedly because he had been unemployed for a long time. Police said the man was taken to Civil Hospital where the doctors said his condition was critical.
