Actor Anupam Kher, who has appeared not only in more than 450 films but also in around a 100 plays, is now planning on celebrating 30 years of his television and theatre experience with a second book, according to The Times of India.
Titled, Lessons Life has Taught Me Unknowingly, the book is Anupam Kher’s second venture into writing. His debut book, a 226 page volume called The Best Thing About You is You! was a series of personal essays by the actor on various aspects of his personal life, career and background. The actor-turned-author, when talking about his first book, proudly claims, “It has already run into 14 editions and has been translated into 10 languages.”
While commenting on the upcoming novel’s publication date, Anupam Kher seems hopeful about wrapping it up within six months’ time. With such an illustrious career, it is difficult to imagine how one book can cover so much experience, spread over half a century: his debut film, where he acted as a 68-year-old school teacher, celebrated its 50th anniversary on May 25, 2014. However, he seems to have a set plan on how the book will be dealt with.
“It will have between 15-20 chapters to encapsulate all the lessons I have learnt from my parents, the movies I’ve made, the people I’ve journeyed with, my plays, and soon-to-air TV show Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai and even my experiences as a life coach. It’s a book for youngsters, so while the content will be meaningful and serious, the writing will be light. Things that I had once laughed off as trivial turned out to be life-changing experiences.”
With such a vast familiarity with the world of showbiz, Anupam Kher has enough words of wisdom to express what keeps him going, and what enables him to balance his acting with his writing. “I learnt that you can be a success even with an unconventional role but it’s important to re-invent yourself at every step. That’s what has kept me going for 30 years and will keep me going for the next 30.”
