JAMRUD:
A Tajik citizen was held at a check post in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency while illegally trying to enter Afghanistan through the Torkham border on Sunday. A political administration official, Ali Sher, said khasadar officials on duty at Takhta Baig check post stopped a car for checking and held a man identified as Muhammad Jan, citizen of Tajikistan. Jan was trying to enter Afghanistan without a no-objection certificate (NOC) and proper travelling documents. The official said the accused was initially shifted to Jamrud tehsil, from where he was handed over to Hayatabad police. In a similar incident on Friday, a Ukrainian national was held at the same check post for attempting to enter Afghanistan without an NOC. Previously, on May 7, a German national was also held for the same reason at Takhta Baig check post while travelling to Afghanistan in a private taxi. Both individuals were handed over to the custody of Hayatabad police.
