Geo TV licence: Crucial PEMRA meeting next week
Pemra likely to take disciplinary action against 3 private members for making announcements against Geo TV.
ISLAMABAD:
Pemra is likely to take disciplinary action next week against its three private members for making announcements against Geo TV in its meeting. This meeting, announced on Friday by the Pemra spokesperson, has been summoned primarily to discuss the defence ministry’s reference against Geo TV for launching a vilification campaign against the ISI chief after an attack on its anchor Hamid Mir. Sources said the government is considering taking action against Pemra members – Israr Abbasi, Mian Shams and Fareeha Ikhtiar – and has issued show cause notices to them for criticising Pemra and levelling allegations against the regulatory body and its officials.
