Gun control: Two men sentenced for not having licence

The court remanded the accused to carry out the sentence.

KARACHI: Two men were sentenced to three years in jail by a district and sessions court on Thursday. Sajid Ali and Rehmat Ali were found guilty of possessing unlicensed weapons. Faiz Muhammad Bhatti, an additional district and sessions judge in district Central, pronounced the judgment after hearing the case. According to the prosecution, the police had arrested the men on January 1 this year, when weapons were discovered and they could not produce the licences. Two cases, No. 14 and 15/14 under section 231(a) of the Sindh Arms Act, 2013, were registered against the two at Paposh Nagar police station. Moreover, the court imposed a fine of Rs10,000 each and added that in case they fail to pay the fines, the convicts wll face an additional two months of incarceration. The court remanded the accused to carry out the sentence.
