RAWALPINDI:

A contempt petition was filed in the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench seeking contempt proceedings against the PAF Kamra management for not implementing court orders to induct selected candidates in the Aircraft Manufacturing Factory (AMF).

Earlier, the court had ordered the PAF Kamra management to induct 48 employees in the AMF from the date of their selection — February 21, 2011. They have yet to be accommodated against the sanctioned posts.

The contempt petition was filed by Col (retd) Inamur Rahim, the counsel for the petitioners after the PAF Kamra management failed to implement the court order of April 21, which had directed them to accommodate the petitioners.

The PAF counsel, however, objected to the petition, saying no particular officer has been named in it and contempt notices could not be issued under the circumstances. Rahim replied by stating that the designation of the responsible officer has been listed in the petition.

The court adjourned the case till May 26 while asking the petitioners to include the names of the respondents in the petition as well.

Later, the petitioners included names of then-managing director (MD) of Kamra, Air Vice Marshal Suhail Malik, incumbent MD Air Vice Marshal Nudrat Kazmi and Assistant Director Usama bin Jabir in the petition.

“The PAF management did not implement the court’s order, which in our opinion is tantamount to committing contempt of court,” Rahim said outside the courtroom.

On April 8, the court issued a notice to the Air Vice asking him to file a written reply within seven days.
