The Islamabad Police Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested 20 members of five separate gangs, a police spokesperson claimed on Wednesday.



The CIA also recovered electronics, vehicles, liquor and other valuables from the possession of the suspected criminals, according to the police.


The arrests were made by special police teams constituted by Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation Jamil Ahmad Hashmi as part of a recent police crackdown on robbers and car lifters. Police said the special teams succeeded in nabbing five gangs allegedly involved in robberies, car theft and bootlegging.


Police recovered six stolen motorcycles, eight pistols, gold ornaments, a car, mobiles phone, cameras, laptops and 354 bottles wine from their possession. Police have registered cases against them and are investigating.
