Block-print making: Workshop on Japanese technique kicks off

A five-day workshop on Japanese woodblock printmaking kicked off at Nomad Art Gallery on Monday, said a press release.


The workshop has been organised by the Japanese embassy in collaboration with Nomad Art Gallery, COMSATS University, MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan and Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association.


Dr Shahida Mansur, an expert in woodblock print making from Tokyo National University of Arts and Music, will conduct the week-long workshop.

She was awarded Monbusho scholarship by the Government of Japan and was the first recipient of a doctorate in the field.

Japanese embassy Public Affairs Consular Toshikazu Isomura inaugurated the workshop and appreciated her for teaching the Japanese techniques to the Pakistani people. He thanked Nomad Art Gallery Director Nageen Hyat for extending cooperation in organising this workshop.
