EC summons board for Sehwani

The Election Commission heard arguments in the cases of two SA members accused of having fake/invalid degrees.

ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission heard arguments in the cases of two Sindh Assembly members accused of having fake/invalid degrees.

The hearing was chaired by the Election Commission’s Muhammad Afzal Khan, who was nominated on the direction of Supreme Court. Rahim Bux Channa represented the Higher Education Commission. MPA Pitanbar Sehwani appeared in person and pleaded that he had changed his name from Washdev to Pitanbar Sehwani and advertised it in newspapers and a proper gazette notification in 2000.


The committee said that the Intermediate board concerned had declared his certificate bogus. In response, he presented all his documents and said that he had filed a case against the board.

The committee decided to issue notices to BISE, Hyderabad to appear on Nov 8 with all the relevant records. MPA Mukesh Kumar Chawla was issued a final reminder.
