Textile: Training programme to benefit industry
The youth would be trained for clean cotton picking to avoid crop pollution to boost exports, said an official.
ISLAMABAD:
Ministry of Textile Industry will start a three-month training programme for youth during the next financial year to provide skilled labour to the textile industry. An official of the ministry said that the youth would be trained for clean cotton picking to avoid crop pollution to boost exports and harvest benefits of the Generalised System of Preferences Plus status given by the European Union. He said that a proper standardisation process would also be introduced to promote cotton exports from the country and to fetch more foreign exchange reserves for the country which would ultimately benefit the growers as well. “The labour force would also be provided training of kniting, sewing and stitching for the development of textile value addition to enhance the range of products available for exporting to the international market,” he concluded.
