MUZAFFARABAD:
A man axed his wife to death in Samhani in district Bhimber, some 230 kilometres from here.
According to the police, Muhammad Rafiq, a resident of Bandikas in Samhani Tehsil, killed his wife, Anwar Begum, on Wednesday while they were on way to attend a relative’s wedding. The reason behind the murder could not be ascertained, however, Samhani Assistant Commissioner Chaudhry Haq Nawaz told The Express Tribune that the alleged suspect had been suffering from a psychiatric disorder for the last three years.
According to the police, after committing the crime, Rafiq reportedly told his son on the phoned that he had dumped the body in a nearby forest. The police shifted the body to Samhani Tehshil Headquarters Hospital to conduct a post mortem. The suspect is still at large, the police said.
Meanwhile, a man was killed and another injured in a motorcycle accident in Bagh district, some 120 kilometres from here.
According to the police, Maulana Muhammad Ismail and his friend Imtiaz were going to Forward Kahuta when their motorcycle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Lasdana. Ismail died on spot while Imtiaz sustained serious injuries. The injured was rushed to the Bagh District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors said his life was out of danger.
