Loan Default: Man gets death sentence for murder

Additional Sessions Judge Farrukh Hameed on Thursday awarded death sentence to a man accused of killing another man in 2011. According to the prosecution, Abrar had shot and killed Zulfiqar on April 26, 2011, when the latter demanded him to return the money he had borrowed. The judge awarded capital punishment to Abrar, a resident of village 57-JB, under Section 302-B of the Pakistan Penal Code. He was also directed to pay Rs100,000 in compensation to the bereaved family; else he would be imprisoned for an additional six months. Separately, Additional Sessions Judge Zubair Shehzad Kiyani awarded life imprisonment to a man for killing his wife on December 12, 2011. Sabir Ali, a resident or village 219-RB, shot dead Gulshan Bibi when she asked for money. The court also directed him to pay Rs100,000 in compensation to Gulshan’s.
