Peace committee member gunned down in Swat

SWAT: Bakht Rawan, a member of the reconciliation committee was gunned down by unknown gunmen in Mingora on Thursday evening.

DPO Sher Akbar Khan while talking to The Express Tribune said that Rawan was on returning home after visiting a market when two unknown assailants riding a motorcycle shot at him.

“Rawan was killed on the spot on Kas Road in Mingora city,” DPO Sher Akbar Khan said.

The police chief said that police contingents rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

“We are investigating the incident, and questioning people who were present at the time of the attack,” he added.

He further said that Rawan had been a member of the peace committee for the past year. He was a property dealer in Mingora city.

DSP Mingora city Yousaf Ali confirmed that the assailants were riding on a bike and that it was a targeted attack.

His body was shifted to Saidu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Khan said that they have a launched a search operation in the area, though no one has been arrested yet.
