RAWALPINDI:

The police on Wednesday informed the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench that a missing person has been traced in Lakki Marwat internment centre.

Justice Tariq Masood asked the police to inform the court about its efforts in tracing Khan Badshah, a resident of Waziristan who was picked up reportedly by intelligence agencies from Wah Cantonment 14 months ago.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Muhammad Azam argued that family of Badshah can meet him after fulfilling legal requirements.

However, the petitioner’s counsel Sardar Taufiq Asif was dissatisfied with SSP’s the reply and wanted to argue. However, the court adjourned the case till June 4.

Badshah and his brother Dr Nek Badshah were picked up from Wah Cantonment in March 2013 allegedly by intelligence agencies. However, Dr Badshah was released who lodged a report with the Wah Cantonment police.

Earlier, the court had issued notices to chiefs of all intelligence agencies in the case ordering them to appear in court in person. The agencies officials had assured that they will cooperate with the police to trace the missing man.

On last hearing, the police officials had informed the court that Khan Badshah had been traced to southern district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

On Wednesday, the police with the intelligence agencies’ help traced the missing man and informed the court about his whereabouts.

Finance secretary on notice

Judge Abdus Sattar Asghar of the LHC in a separate case on Wednesday issued contempt notice to Federal Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood for defying the court order.

The judge asked him to submit his reply within two weeks on a petition filed by special courts’ employees for implementing the court order on payment of allowances to them.

They informed the court that their counterparts working in other provinces and Islamabad are availing the allowances but in Punjab they are deprived of it.

On February 14, 2014 the court had decided the case in favour of the employees asking the government to make sure payment of allowances is made to the special courts’ employees. However, the finance secretary has allegedly been using delaying tactics to pay the allowances.

Senior Reader Sheikh Abdur Razzaq filed the contempt petition informing the court that the secretary was not implementing the court orders and directives.
