BAHAWALPUR:

Bahawalpur deputy district officer on Wednesday sought the medical report of seven children allegedly beaten by their teacher.

Thalwari Government Primary School’s head Muhammad Afzal said Ishaq Bibi, a teacher of mathematics, had beaten seven children for not memorising their lesson.

He said the children had been so badly beaten, they were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The injured children included 10-year-old Shahzeb, eight-year-old Imaduddin, 10-year-old Arslan, nine-year-old Dilawar, eight-year-old Muhammad Salman and 10-year-old Farhan Mehmood.

He said Shahzeb’s hand was fractured in the beating. Afzal said he submitted a complaint to the deputy district officer and he had sent the children to Sheikh Zayed Hospital to acquire a medical report after which an investigation would be launched. He said negligence would not be tolerated.
