Tax Ombudsman Orders: FBR asked to settle pending payments

FTO Abdur Rauf Chaudhry ordered FBR to clear all refund claims of exporters that have been settled.

KARACHI:
Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Abdur Rauf Chaudhry has ordered the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to clear all refund claims of exporters that have been settled.  On Tuesday, the FTO, while addressing the members of Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that in order to facilitate exporters he would approach the FBR to make payments of the refund claims within the specified time limit. He said he will also instruct the FBR to arrange the publishing of the customs daily list of import and export through the Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL), in order to facilitate the business community and to promote transparency in the international business transactions. Responding to a question, he said that the demand of the toll tax twice at the Karachi Northern Bypass which is tantamount to double taxation.
