LAHORE/KARACHI:
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed former leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, who has worked as a consultant for the England team since 2008, as the spin-bowling consultant of the Pakistan team.

The bowling consultant contract is for two years, which Mushtaq signed this morning, taking charge of his new position.

The former stalwart is the second important appointee in the Pakistan team setup after another legendary player Waqar Younis was appointed as head coach recently.

Mushtaq had a close fight with fellow player Saqlain Mushtaq for the bowling consultant; however, the board has preferred him due to his vast experience at the international level.

In addition, compared to Saqlain, he is closer to Waqar as they earlier played together for UBL and Multan.

The former leg-spinner during his career took 185 test and 161 one-day wickets and helped Pakistan win the 1992 World Cup.
