Law and order: ‘Robber’ killed in shootout

The injured man was taken to Allied Hospital where he later died.

A robber was killed in a shootout with the police on Saturday.


A Ghulam Muhammadabad police spokesman said two accomplices of the man managed to escape.

He said police had received a complaint at around 4am that three armed robbers had taken away a motorbike.

A picket was set up near Subhan Allah Chowk and a motorbike carrying three people was stopped.

He said the men shot at the police before they hid in a graveyard nearby.

He said one of them injured when police returned. He said the police searched the area but the robbers managed to flee.

The injured man was taken to Allied Hospital where he later died.

The police also seized a 0.30-bore pistol and recovered the stolen motorbike.

The spokesman said a team had been constituted to look for and arrest the escaped robbers.
