PESHAWAR:
Three children were injured after unidentified men hurled a grenade into a trader’s house in Kohati Gate area of the walled city on Saturday.
“They lobbed a grenade which was immediately picked up and thrown back outside by the household. It landed on the street and exploded, leaving three children injured,” explained a police official, adding all the injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital where they were said to be stable.
The house was targeted for the third time by unidentified men who were demanding that the trader pay them extortion.
“Syed Karim is a well-off trader from Mohmand Agency and is the son-in-law of late Kabul Khan, a billionaire fruit merchant who was killed by extortionists last year in Nishtarabad,” said the official of the local police station.
Since the start of this year, low-intensity blasts by suspected extortionists have increased in the city.
