Khyber Agency: Suspected militant killed, FC official gunned down

A suspected militant and a security official were killed in separate incidents in Khyber Agency on Wednesday.


Abdul Haq, an alleged militant, was killed when a bomb he was attempting to plant Bara Shalobar peace committee ‘s compound exploded prematurely. An official of the political administration said Haq suffered from a mental illness.

Meanwhile, a Frontier Corps (FC) official was gunned down and another injured in Ghundai, Jamrud tehsil.


According to an official of the political administration, FC officials Qismat Khan, a resident of Jamrud, and Naik Muhammad, a resident of Bara, were off duty and had come to their respective hometowns during their leave.

Both victims were at Ashna Market in Ghundai around 5pm when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at them, killing Khan on the spot while critically injuring Naik. The injured was rushed to Jamrud Hospital.

In Ghreza area of Jamrud, the main gate of a house was destroyed in an explosion on Wednesday. A political administration official said the blast occurred around 3am outside the residence of Saeed Torkhel.

The explosion also damaged the boundary wall. The official added they immediately launched a search operation, however, no arrests were made.
