PESHAWAR: At least three people were injured when a low-intensity bomb exploded near Namak Mandi in Cherokoban within the jurisdiction of Yakatoot police station. The incident occurred around 9pm on Wednesday at a roadside soft drink shop, which was damaged in the blast.

According to the police, the three victims were injured in a stampede which followed the loud explosion.

The intended target of the attack was shop owner Sakhi Jan, originally a resident of Mohmand Agency, said a police official.

"This man is a Mohmand tribesman and it looks like another case of extortion. His shop was targeted in a similar manner in 2013," shared an official of the local police station.

At least 300 grammes of explosive material was used in the bomb which was a timed device, said officials of the bomb disposal unit.
