PESHAWAR: Students of North Waziristan on Monday demanded the reopening of Mirali Degree College which has been closed for the last six months by the political administration after a bomb blast at a check post near the college. At a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Hashimullah Dawar, president of the Waziristan Students Society, asked Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi to focus on the agency’s education sector. All schools in the agency lack basic facilities and most are closed due to the security situation. “The Rs3,000 in scholarships that the government provides to students have also not been paid for several years,” he said.
