LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said on Sunday the party supported the demands of Kissan Ittehad, and opposed the government’s decision to import 53 farm products from India. He said the PPP was not in favour of calling people to the streets. He said the PPP leaders had extended support to democratic governance by accepting the election results last year despite allegations of rigging. He said not withstanding PPP’s support for the democratic government, the party would oppose all policies that could hurt farmers. “Farmers across the border get free water, electricity and tractors at a third of the price for Pakistani farmers.” He said he failed to understand the logic of importing maize from India when the crop would be ready in Pakistan in one month.
