BAHAWALPUR:

Bahawalpur Museum workers continued their protest against the museum’s director for the third day on Sunday. They alleged that the director had suspended water supply to their houses as punishment for joining a demonstration. The protesters said they would continue their strike till the director was transferred or suspended from service. The museum’s All Pakistan Clerks Association Unit general secretary, Imran Ramazan, said the director had illegally used government vehicles in the Bahawalpur Restoration Campaign and was involved in stealing valuable artefacts and lab equipment.

He said the museum officials had complained about the director to the Bahawalpur commissioner on April 5, 2011. Ramazan demanded an inquiry into the complaint as well as an audit covering last 13 years.  “We will go on hunger strike at the Farid Gate on May 6 if our demands are not met,” said Ramazan, “We will also hold a protest rally from the museum to the district coordination office on May 8.”
