Inflation: Index falls 0.86% during week

The SPI for the week under review for the lowest income group was recorded at 200.86 points.

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended April 30, 2014, has registered a decrease of 0.86% over the previous week for the lowest income group. The SPI for the week under review for the above mentioned group was recorded at 200.86 points against 202.60 registered in the previous week, according to provisional figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The SPI for the combined groups decreased by 0.62%; down from 210.62 points in the previous week to 209.31 this week. Compared to the corresponding week last year, the SPI for combined groups inflated 9.64%. During the week under review, average prices of indexed items changed as follows — 14 items registered a decrease, 8 items increased and the remaining 31 items remained unchanged.
