Accident: Cloth factory in SITE catches fire
No casualties have been reported as yet.
KARACHI:
A cloth factory in SITE, near Siemens Chowrangi, caught fire on Friday but the authorities have yet to determine what caused it. Water shortage served as a big hurdle in extinguishing the fire despite the efforts of 14 fire trucks, which included one snorkel, two bowsers and one rescue vehicle. No casualties have been reported as yet. A representative of SITE area’s fire station complained that the area has been facing water shortage for more than 10 years. “We have repeatedly complained about this and written letters to the managing directors of the Karachi Water Sewerage Board and SITE Ltd but to no avail,” he said.
