Musharraf Case: Prosecution asks court to lead evidence
It seems by the manifest conduct of Musharraf that his interest is in delaying the commencement of the evidence.
ISLAMABAD:
In the high treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf, the prosecution on Wednesday prayed to the special court to record its evidence.
The accused had adequate time and facilities for preparation of his defence and there is no other compelling reason for deferring the recording of prosecution’s evidence, it said.
“It is humbly prayed that the case may graciously be heard on day-to-day basis,” read the written application submitted before Justice Faisal Arab led bench.
It seems by the manifest conduct of Musharraf that his interest is in delaying the commencement of the evidence and ultimately frustrating any culmination of this trial.
This has been done by filing 21 applications till date by the defence and resultantly since the last four months this special court has been embroiled in disposing of these applications, rightly so keeping in mind the fair trial rights of the accused.
