Spurious drugs: QCB approves ‘plan of action’ to monitor sale

The Quality Control Board (QCB) of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration on Tuesday approved a plan of action to control and monitor the sale of spurious drugs in the federal capital.
Under the plan, drug regulators will hold meetings with the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) and the Pakistan Chemists and Druggist Association (PCDA) to sensitise the field force to monitor any change in sale parameters and enhance their interaction with the drug regulators, said the official.

The plan was approved at a meeting chaired by Islamabad Chief Commissioner Jawad Paul and also attended by Secretary QCB Sardar Shabbir, District Health Officer Muhammad Azhar and representatives of quality assurance and labs and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP).
“The basic objective of the plan is to control and monitor the sale of counterfeit drugs in the city,” said an ICT official.
