A boy’s right leg became paralysed after being treated by a man now accused of quackery.
Muzaffar Khan, a resident of Chak 568-GB, told media people on Monday that his son Fakharullah, an intermediate level student, had reported feeling unwell six months ago. He said that he took his son to Dr Afzal’s clinic in the area. The doctor prescribed him an injection, soon after which the patient’s condition worsened. “Then Dr Afzal told us to take Fakhrullah to a hospital,” said Khan.
He said that he took his son to a hospital where the doctors said that his right leg was paralysed. Khan alleged that it was because of the injection Dr Afzal had prescribed.
“Dr Afzal is not a qualified professional but a quack. He is playing havoc with the lives of innocent people.”
Dr Afzal denied the allegations and told The Express Tribune that Fakhar’s parents were trying to blackmail him at the behest of his opponents. “I did not prescribe bad medicine to the boy...his leg became paralysed due to delayed treatment. His parents did not take him to the hospital on time.”
Dr Afzal said that he had advised the boy’s parents to take him to a hospital immediately... apparently they had not.
