Going abstract: Silence Please at Nairang from May 5
An art exhibition titled Silence Please will begin at the Nairang Art Gallery on May 5.
Thirty art pieces by 10 artists will be on display. The artists are Zarah David, Sehar Jalil, Sadia Farooq, Mariam Hanif, Minelle Gaya, Muzamil Khan, Anil Waghela, Muhammad Umar, Minahil Hafiz and Sajid Ali Talpur.
Artist Quddus Mirza will open the show. Speaking to The Express Tribune, curator Amna Hussain said the exhibition focused on abstraction in Pakistan’s contemporary art. “The artists represent different generations. They have been promoting abstract art through their paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and photographs,” she said. “I hope the exhibition will focus on an important but not often visible art form. The abstract imagery and sensibility found among Pakistani artists should be explored.” The exhibition will continue until May 15.
