Indian Premier League: Punjab continue winning streak
Kings XI Punjab beat Kolkata Knight Riders with twenty-three runs.
Kings XI Punjab earned a hard fought victory against Kolkata Knight Riders beating them by 23 runs in a low-scoring match of Indian Premier League in Abu Dhabi. Punjab, sent in to bat first, were only able to score 132 for the loss of nine wickets courtesy Virendar Sehwag’s steady knock of 37 runs off 30 balls which included three boundaries and a six. Spinners Sunil Narine and Piyush Chawla, who was brought in for Vinay Kumar, were able to contain big-hitting Punjab batsmen by taking three wickets each. Kolkatta stumbled in their chase of a low total and were only able to score 109 when Mitchel Johnson accounted for their last batsman and sent Umesh Yadav’s wickets flying. He also dismissed Sunil Narine. Meanwhile, Man-of-the-match Sandeep Sharma did the trick for Punjab with his reliable right-arm medium deliveries as he accounted for three Kolkata batsmen.
