Talking to the media at the dock, Rafique said PR has received nine 2,000-horsepower locomotives from China. He added 14 more engines will reach Pakistan in coming days. “These new engines will help make Pakistan Railways a profitable organisation,” he told reporters. According to Rafique, the new engines were manufactured with the cooperation of renowned US firm Caterpillar. Regarding recent bomb blasts on railway tracks he said the length of tracks is vast and it is impossible to monitor the entire stretch with cameras. However, patrolling teams keep an eye on tracks in sensitive areas, he added.
