Karan Johar wants to interview Aamir Khan

Johar maintains that he will not take advantage of his personal rapport with stars to unravel their secrets.

MUMBAI: Bollywood director Karan Johar is getting ready for the third season of his talk show “Koffee with Karan” and says he would be honoured to interview actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan.

“I had a chat with Aamir. I am trying to have him in this season. I think Aamir has proven his mettle as a filmmaker and actor and as a personality I think we should all be really proud of. Aamir conceptually has said that we would do it but we are yet to figure out a date and a schedule. It would be my honour to interview him,” Johar told reporters on Friday.

The third season will feature the first appearance by Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as a couple on a talk show since they tied the knot in 2007.

“It was great to have Abhi and Ash, they are my friends. There were many things that I wanted to know, which I think the audience would love to know because they are really one of the royal couples of Bollywood,” said Johar.

Reports that Kaminey co-stars and ex-es Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra would appear together on the show were rubbished by Johar. The director instead chose to shower praise on their acting skills.

“There is media conjecture but I haven’t spoken to them (Kapoor and Chopra). They are great couple on screen. I would say Kaminey was a fantastic film and Shahid and Priyanka are big reason for that. I would love to have Shahid and Priyanka together,” said Johar.

Johar maintains that he will not take advantage of his personal rapport with the stars to unravel their secrets beyond a certain level.

“I never offend any of my guests. I try to make them feel comfortable as I invite them to my show. Yes, some sequences are revealed, some fun conversation happened but I don’t think anything is offensive,” said Johar.

“There are new enemies, new lovers and new controversies, so we will talk on that,” he added.

“I am flying to Berlin. I am going to Rome for the film festival where My Name is Khan is being screened. Shah Rukh is also coming there. Then we will fly together to Berlin to spend his birthday with his family and close friends,” Johar said. Khan is currently in Berlin to shoot for Don 2 with Farhan Akhtar.

“Koffee with Karan” will air on Star World on November 7.
