Working together: UHS, Ferdowsi University formalise collaboration

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) and Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration in academics and research. UHS Vice Chancellor (VC) Muhammad Aslam and Ferdowsi University’s Muhammad Ali Khalilifar signed the MoU.


A spokesman for the UHS said the agreement envisaged collaboration in educational, cultural and research activities, exchange of scholars, researchers and faculty members, short-term training programmes, and holding of conferences, seminars and symposia. “It also favours recognition of joint post-graduate degree programmes and development of library services at the two institutions,” he said. The UHS VC said the people of Pakistan and Iran had deep cultural, religious and traditional association.

Biomedical editors’ moot

The second national conference of Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME) would start at the UHS on Saturday (today). The theme of the two-day conference is Challenges and Opportunities in Scientific Publishing. The UHS has arranged it in collaboration with Eastern Mediterranean Association of Medical Editors (EMAME) and Health Research Advisory Board.The conference will deal with issues related to editors, editorial staff, reviewers and referees of biomedical journals.Guest speakers of the conference will include MB Rokni, editor of Iranian Journal of Public Health and Iranian Journal of Parasitology from the Tehran University of Health Sciences, and Dr Behrooz Astaneh, editor of Iranian Journal of Medical Sciences from University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran.
