Busted: Six arrested, drugs worth millions seized

Police says they recovered 100 maunds of charas, worth Rs70 million.

Six people were arrested in Multan and Faisalabad on Friday and drugs worth millions of rupees were seized from them, police said.


Inspector Tahir Aziz said police had stopped a truck carrying wood at the general bus stand in Multan. He said they had recovered 100 maunds of charas, worth Rs70 million, hidden in the wood. He said police had arrested Siddiq Akbar Afridi, the principal suspect, truck driver Muhammad Amin and his helper Aslam.


Police said Afridi wanted to smuggle the charas to Karachi. “He has safe havens in Afghanistan and other Central Asian states.” In Faisalabad, the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized a huge cache of heroin and arrested three drug peddlers from near a motorway interchange. ANF official Mumtaz Hussain said the heroin was being smuggled from the Tribal Areas to Faisalabad. “An ANF team stopped a car near the interchange and recovered 45 kilgrammes of heroin hidden inside it.” He said Abdul Quddus, Naqibullah and Fayyaz Ahmad had been arrested. He said their car had also been impounded.
