Protest ends: Sabzi Mandi traders call off strike

Traders withdraw call for strike after the kidnapped son of a trader is recovered.

KARACHI:
The call for strike has been withdrawn by traders after the kidnapped son of a trader was recovered, said All Vegetables Association chairperson Bahram Khan on Friday. He also cited the endeavours of commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui as another reason for the withdrawal of the strike.  Following the kidnapping of Haji Abdul Rehman’s son from the New Sabzi Mandi traders had announced an indefinite strike from April 26 because of threats from criminals. The identity of the kidnappers has yet to be ascertained but the kidnapped son was left near his house on Friday morning. Moreover, the commissioner assured the traders that their grievances will be redressed.
