Ajmal pahari: SHC calls comments on transfer

The bench was hearing a petition filed by the UTP’s wife against his transfer to Sukkur jail.

KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday gave three weeks to the home secretary, inspector-general of prison police, superintendent of the Sukkur central jail and the member of the Sindh High Court Inspection Team-II (MIT-II) to file comments on the transfer of under-trial prisoner (UTP), Muhammad Ajmal, alias Ajmal Pahari, outside the city. Headed by Justice Muhammad Ali M Sheikh, the bench was hearing a petition filed by the UTP’s wife against his transfer to the Sukkur jail. Fouzia Hussain had told the judges that her husband was shifted out of the city without assigning any reason, which was a violation of the jail rules. She was concerned that Ajmal’s life may be in danger and pleaded the court order the prison authorities to bring him back to Karachi.
