KARACHI:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to reveal the new selection committee that will work under chief selector Moin Khan.

“We hope to announce the new committee today [Thursday],” a senior board official told The Express Tribune. “Moin is also going to give details about the conditioning camp that we are going to start shortly.”

The selection committee is expected to include some new faces; prominent among them is former Test opener Wajahatullah Wasti, who has featured in six Tests and 15 ODIs, including the 1999 World Cup final against Australia.

Wasti has coached various domestic teams in recent years and was widely tipped to join the selection committee under Rashid Latif, before the former Test captain stepped away before taking over.

The board is also likely to include some experienced selectors in the committee. However, it remains to be seen if any of the members of the preceding committee – Azhar Khan, Saleem Jaffer and Farrukh Zaman – are recalled.

Meanwhile, Moin has shared a list of 30 players for the training camp with the board. The camp is set to start soon with the players going through a gruelling regime at the National Cricket Academy.

According to the board official, the purpose of the camp is to prepare the players for the next season and ensure that they maintain their fitness during the off season.

Spinner Saeed Ajmal and the players featuring in the English county season will probably be exempted from the camp.
