Local body polls: ECP ready to hold elections in K-P
Authorities are ready to hold K-P LG polls before June 30 if K-P drops demand to verify voters via biometric system.
ISLAMABAD:
The election authorities on Tuesday claimed that they were ready to hold local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before June 30th if the province drops its demand to verify voters through a biometric system. The ECP succeeded in persuading the provincial government to use a biometric system only as a pilot project in some areas as opposed to throughout the province. Speaking with the media after the ECP’s meeting on Tuesday, director general Election Commission Sher Afghan said the rules have been framed and delimitations completed in that province.
