Wheat crisis: Federal, provincial govts on same page

            Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Chaudhry Barjees Tahir has said that the federal and Gilgit-Baltistan governments are on the same page to resolve the issue of wheat crisis in Gilgit-Baltistan. He stated this in a meeting with Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Syed Mahdi Shah who called on the federal minister in his office and apprised him regarding sufferings of the people due to wheat prices and protests, said a press release. Tahir said that the federal government accords a great deal of respect to the feelings of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and would take every possible step in order to resolve the crisis. The issue of wheat subsidy was discussed in detail and a five member committee was constituted in chairmanship of Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan. This committee would formulate recommendations which would be sent to Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for final Approval.
