Railways: ‘Use own resources to raise revenue’
The chairman expressed his displeasure for including low priority projects in the proposals.
The committee urged the ministry to focus on prioritising their projects and directed it to allocate funds in accordance with the actual amount to be provided for PSDP budget 2014-15.

Standing Committee of National Assembly on Railways asked the ministry to utilise its own resources while also bringing in the private sector on the best possible terms to increase its revenue.
The committee, which met under the chair of Syed Naveed Qamar, discussed budgetary proposals of the Ministry of Railways and its attached departments relating to the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for the next financial year 2014-15. The committee urged the ministry to focus on prioritising their projects and directed it to allocate funds in accordance with the actual amount to be provided for PSDP budget 2014-15.
The chairman expressed his displeasure for including low priority projects in the proposals. He directed that only financially viable projects may be included in the PSDP proposals. He also asked the ministry to provide a project report according to the budget within one week.
