A helping hand: AKU to receive $16m for infrastructure

The loan will fund infrastructure projects, including the induction of a 1.75 megawatt (MW) gas generator.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by AFD country head Denis Cassat and the AKU director-general and chief financial officer, Al-Karim Haji, on Monday.

France has pledged $16 million for the expansion of Aga Khan Hospital and Medical College Foundation, according to a press release.



The French finance institution for development, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), will provide the loan to the Aga Khan Hospital and Medical College Foundation to expand infrastructure facilities on its campus.


A memorandum of understanding was signed by AFD country head Denis Cassat and the AKU director-general and chief financial officer, Al-Karim Haji, on Monday.

The loan will fund infrastructure projects, including the induction of a 1.75 megawatt (MW) gas generator to reduce dependency on city power and a 16MW grid station which will become the primary source of electricity for the university and hospital.
