Mustafa Kamal formally tenders resignation from Senate
Kamal cited ‘personal obligations’ behind his resignation.
KARACHI:
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s Mustafa Kamal, who had announced his decision to resign from the Senate last November, sent in his formal resignation on Monday, Express News reported.
Kamal, who is best known for his mayorship of Karachi 2005-9 during which time the megalopolis saw a flurry of developmental activity, had resigned from his seat in November 2013, but it has taken him almost six months to submit a formal resignation.
The former Karachi mayor had cited ‘personal obligations’ as the reason for his resignation.
The MQM, the party on whose ticket Kamal had been elected to the Senate, had in November denied that he had resigned.
