Home for homeless: Shelter opens for women in distress

The shelter has been established by an NGO, Bint-e-Fatima Old Home Trust (BFOHT).

ISLAMABAD: A shelter home for women in distress with the notion to ensure secure and healthy family environment was inaugurated in Islamabad on Saturday. “The government should establish more shelters for the homeless women and women in distress, especially for senior citizens,” said Neelum Toru, the chairperson of the Provincial Commission on the Status of Women for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa while peaking at the occasion. “We also need to sensitise our young generation to take care of senior citizens,” she commented. The shelter has been established by an NGO, Bint-e-Fatima Old Home Trust (BFOHT). Aurat Foundation Chief Operating Officer Naeem Mirza requested the government to increase efforts in establishing such shelters and improving the condition of existing ones.
